You can also see the houses they build. They always have multiple floors because they believe that with all the humidity, it is bad health to live on the first floor. That floor is where they keep their animals; the second floor is where they live, and the third floor is where they tend their hair.

Guilin rice feilds and mountians

During our Guilin trip we had the chance to come to see the Yao ethnicity home. They live in the hills near Guilin and are famous for not cutting their hair. The woman put on shows in which you can watch them tend their hair, which is sometimes as long as they are tall. Meanwhile, out in the streets the little old woman vend their hand-made stitchings and aggressively pursue you with their little baskets if you show any interest.
Below is the rope (actually wire) bridge to their town. It really got to rocking as we crossed, and was difficult to walk a straight line on.

They also had a storefront with the words to "twinkle twinkle little star" on the wall. THey actually got it all correctly! I have no idea why it was on the wall, though. When's the last time you saw a children's rhyme randomly painted on a wall in America? Ah, I love their sheer appreciation of language, whether it is meaningful or not :)

They had a random poster of reflexology points on the street; I guess we must have been close to a foot massage place.

Milk_tea is a drink we discovered, and is currently my favorite thing I've had to eat in China. This place didn't actually include any tea in it; it is a creamy milk-shake like drink that is not as thick or sweet, though; it has a cool, sweet flavor that is very refreshing. After drinking that I was able to hit the road for several more hours totally refreshed!

Tory in China

Last night, what I had for dinner. Steamed buns are pretty tasty, and they have a big doughy exterior and are stuffed with seasoned meat on the inside. For a total of about 25 cents each, it's not a bad deal for something fairly filling. The place that sold them had a pleasantly clean kitchen.
